When Zooniverse projects are close to completing their current data set (meaning they've gathered enough classifications to "retire" each subject and start analysis), you may notice “Already Seen” and “Finished” banners appearing over subjects within the Classify page.

"Already Seen": This banner means you’ve already classified the subject. Please avoid reclassifying it, as multiple classifications from the same individual on a single subject can complicate consensus results for the research team. To continue classifying, simply refresh the page to load a new subject. If repeated refreshes still show "Already Seen," please see the notes below for next steps.

"Finished": This indicates that the subject has reached the required number of classifications and is now retired. Even if you haven't classified it, further classification would not be useful. Your efforts would be better spent and much appreciated on other available subjects or projects.

"You've Seen Everything": Projects that are on our new frontend (like Gravity Spy) also have a 'You’ve Seen Everything' banner. This appears when you have classified all the available unretired subjects; see this example. (For more information on our new frontend, please see https://blog.zooniverse.org/2024/04/23/navigating-the-future-zooniverses-frontend-codebase-migration-and-design-evolution/).

"Finished! Looks like this project is out of data at the moment!": When a project's current dataset is fully complete, a banner with these words will appear across the top of the project pages.

Additional Information:
  • Some projects may upload new data within a few hours or days, while others might take weeks or months to add more data—or may have none left.
  • If no banner or update is posted by the project team, please consider asking  about future data by posting in the project’s Talk board (e.g., for Galaxy Zoo, post in Galaxy Zoo Talk). Tagging @researchers will notify the team of your question.
While waiting for a response from the team or new data in the project, feel free to explore other active projects on the Zooniverse Projects page that may interest you.
